The 1804 Half Cent while overall common, has 4 major varieties based on the style of '4' in the date and the presence of stems in the wreath on the reverse. The Plain 4, with Stems variety is noted for being exceedingly scarce in higher grades, and in uncirculated condition, less than 10 are known.
This coin would otherwise be uncirculated if not for a small amount of rub primarily on the obverse, and an overall darker appearance from environmental damage (though no visible porosity as is common on these early type coins). Verify for yourself equivalent coins on PCGS or NGC, and you will find that this coin has an overall nicer appearance than some XF coins. Affordably priced at mid to upper Very Fine condition given the details grade. A real treasure find for the advanced collector.
