1947 So-Called Half Dollar - Thomas Edison Centennial - heraldic toned silver medal

1947 So-Called Half Dollar, Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These heraldic art medals were produced for a Boston coin dealer. The 'so-called' half dollars at 32mm to avoid confusion with a real half dollar are minted in silver and feature historic events and figures. Despite the dates on the medals, these are all minted in 1947, and were often part of collection marketed by the famous numismatist Wayte Raymond. This medal features the 100th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Edison. It is slightly toned from storage.
